Stone Island

The brand was launched in 1982 by the well-known Italian designer Massimo Osti and was named after his boat. It was originally linked to the C.P. brand. Company, and for some time some pieces of this brand wore the same logo on the arm. The real launch of Stone Island came in 1983.

Stone Island started with making clothes where not the comfort but the quality of the fabric was in the first place. The designers did intensive research on materials, so-called techno fibers were used and eventually Stone Island managed to develop the fibers in such a way that only the NASA is leading them. In the mid-1980s the brand was known for the "knitwear" and in particular the jackets, they could not tear, crease, they just could not break.

The logo, a compass with the name 'Stone Island' around, is called 'the compass' by the company itself. It is often called 'the patch' in the vernacular. The logo is on the left arm.
